Yoga Exercise for Healthy Eyes

Without eyes, the world is dark and no more beauty within it.  Therefore we have to care for our eyes daily.  We brush our teeth, bath our body and shampoo or oil our hair.  But what do we do for our eyes daily?  Like any other muscle, the eye muscles also need exercise to be healthy and strong.

Yoga exercises are good in keeping the eye muscles sharp as well as relaxing the eyes.  Yoga eye exercises will strengthen the eye muscles, help prevent eyestrain, and improve eyesight.  These exercises are simple to do and one can practice these exercises anywhere and anytime.  By performing these eye exercises, they will also help in learning how to maintain the optimal eye health like avoiding eye strain, excessive near point stress and keeping the eyes moist.  So here are some exercises for eyesight that will keep your eyesight more visible.

It is one of the most beneficial yoga exercises for eyesight

How To Do:

  • First, sit in the straight position and look upward.
  • Then count for 2 seconds and look all the way downward.
  • Then count for 2 seconds and look extreme left.
  • Then count for 2 seconds and look extreme right.
  • Now move the eyes to the 4 diagonal corners, that start with top-left, bottom right and finally at the bottom left.
  • Repeat the procedure for one minute.


By performing this exercise, it is effective in improving your eye flexibility.  One can either practice it with open eyes or closed.  In the beginning, ask a friend to check whether you are performing it correctly.

How To Do:

  • Firstly try to relax and look up.
  • Then start rotating your eyes in a clockwise direction.
  • Go slowly make sure that one reach all the corners.
  • One can see a noticeable flying circling around your face.
  • Perform this for one minute and then change to an anti-clockwise direction.


How To Do:

  • Sit quietly with the open eyes and then blink them instantly ten times.
  • Then close your eyes and relax for 20 seconds.
  • Repeat this exercise for at least 5 times.

This exercise involves your eyes looking in all directions and holding for few seconds.

How To Do:

  • Look up, hold for 5 seconds.  Relax your eyes.  Look down, hold 5 seconds, relax your eyes.
  • repeat this 5 times. Blink your eyes a few seconds.
  • Look left, hold for 5 seconds.  Relax your eyes.  Look right, hold for 5 seconds.  Relax your eyes.
  • Repeat 5 times. Blink your eyes.


This exercise involves rolling your eyeball in left and right direction.

  • Rotate eyeball 10 circles to the left. Blink your eyes
  • Rotate eyeballs 10 circles to right. Blink your eyes.
