Bhastrika Pranayama-Effective Yoga To Make Your Mind And Body Happy And Relax

Among the pranayama exercise bhastrika is the most commonly practiced and beneficial one. Bhastrika means blower in Sanskrit. It involves both rapid inhalation as well as exhalation.This helps to increase the circulation of blood in the entire body. In bhastrika breath is exhaled forcibly and quickly. One should inhale and exhale breath like a blower. Bhastrika pranayama is an excellent breathing exercise. It helps to increase vital energy in your being.It keeps the body healthy and mind happy.

Duration: 5 Minutes


1 Breathe in deeply through your nostrils. First, feel the diaphragm move down, allowing the lungs to expand and forcing the abdomen out; then feel your chest expand with your collar bones rising last.

2 Breathe out quickly through your nostrils. Feel your collar bones dropping, chest deflating, and abdomen shrinking as the lungs collapse.This process of exhaling, should be much faster than the process of inhaling-almost like a rapid deflation.

3 Repeat the process. When correctly done , your chest will expand when you breathe in and deflate when you breathe out. Continue doing this for 5 minutes.

4 With practice, speed up your breathing. Beginners should always start slowly to avoid hyperventilating, but over time, it will be possible to turn this into a raid breathing technique.


High BP patients shall not practice at medium or high speed.
Air should be breathed in up to diaphragm. Dont make inward and outward movement of abdominal.
For better benefit, close your eyes and chant “Aum” in your mind.
