Half tortoise pose can actually help us to live longer. Half tortoise pose increases blood flow to the brain, enhancing memory and mental clarity.
This posture is great for tense neck and shoulders, increasing flexibility in your hip joints and preventing headaches.

How To Do:

  1. Enter kneeling position. sit on heels with feet and knees together.
  2. Raise arms above head and brings palm together with thumbs crossed.
  3. Maintain straightened arms and spine throughout the pose.
  4. Inhale while stretching.
  5. Exhale slowly while bending forward in a straight line that spans the distance between tailbone and fingertips.
  6. Stretch forward all the way until forehead and sides of hands touch floor.
  7. Engage arms and straighten elbows so that wrists, elbows, and triceps lift away from the floor.
  8. Keep sliding fingertips forward
  9. To deeply stretch the spine, do these simultaneously. Reach buttocks back to heels. Keep using abdominal muscle. (eventually, buttocks will touch heels throughout pose)
  10. With arms stretching forward and hips reaching back into heels, bring chin forward and away from the chest.
  11. Relax shoulders, breathe, and feel the deep stretch along our back.
  12. Hold the pose for 20 seconds.
  13. Exit pose slowly by moving hips back toward heels and by maintaining straightened arms and spine.

Note: If you feel tightness in the hips or lower back, you may need more time before you can relax in this pose.
